Prime Day Deals for Artists

Okay guys, I’ve spent a lot of time researching what’s “on sale” for Prime Days this week and I gotta say, I’m pretty disappointed! I’ve actually noticed a ton of products falsely marked “Prime Day Deal” and even some things where their prices INCREASED for the sale. Tsk tsk.

Anywhoozle, with a ton of work and price comparing, I’ve compiled a list of things that I personally think are worth looking at. I will try and add to this through today and tomorrow, and am going to spend more time on Blick, Jerry’s Artarama, Cheapo Joes, etc as well, just in case.

Tools/Organization

If you’re a Cricut/Vinyl crafter and have been craving some organization tools, the next item might be ideal for you. This is especially great for people with a small work space who need a lot of flexibility (you could roll this into a corner or into a closet when not in use).

Maybe I’m a weirdo, but I HATE getting anything on my hands. I love these gloves because I still have decent dexterity and grip while my skin is completely protected from any mess. Make sure you get a size on the smaller side to avoid floppy finger tips. (Beware though, they do get a little sweaty if you’re painting in a warm area.)

I tried to find you guys a larger utensil caddy with lots of spaces, but it wasn’t meant to be (try and get yourself an old Pampered chef one off ebay, you won’t regret it!). Even so, the next two options are great if you’re looking for a better way to separate your colored pencils/pens/brushes by size or color family.

This one is supposedly for kids but I say boo to that, adults like color too! And the compartments pop out of this one which is neat:

Honestly, I just think this pencil is cute and Tombow makes quality products.

While Prismacolor is no longer necessarily considered “Top of the Line,” they are still great pencils for coloring projects and anything you want to achieve smooth, soft, blending on.
Keep getting broken lead every time you sharpen? It’s a common complaint about these pencils in the last few years—but don’t worry! Simply lay them in the sun a few minutes or put them in the microwave a few seconds (not too long!). This should melt the broken pieces back together inside the wood again.

Watercolor

While I haven’t tried this specific brand, they have good reviews and I try to have water brushes with me wherever I go! Great for sketching with watercolor on-location. Pair with a portable watercolor palette or a set of Peerless watercolor papers.

I have a different set of this brand of brushes and while nothing fancy, they hold together in the ferule pretty well and also hold their shape without a lot of babying!

I have not tried this brand but love the design of this sketchbook, and it has great reviews. For this price, for hot press paper, it’s absolutely worth a try.
My favorite painting on-the-go sketchbook is Aquabee Super Deluxe, but like most my favorite brands, they are are not doing any Prime Day Deals.

If you haven’t heard of Huion digital drawing tablets, look them up ASAP! They are a fantastic alternative to Wacom tablets if you are on a tighter budget. I have personally owned two different models and they have been lovely.
The Huion Kamvas tablet from 2021 fluctuates in price a bit off-and-on but this is the lowest it ever is.

A great apple pencil dupe! I use mine almost daily (when I can sneak the tablet away from my kiddos playing on Hooked on Phonics).
